Game: What time is it Mr. Wolf?                  Type: Pursuit & Evade

Cycle: I, II                                                  Activity Level: moderate

Tactics: React quickly                                  Equipment: Pinnies of 4 different colors

QEP:
COMPETENCY II, Attacking a moving target, feinting, escaping, encircling opponent.

Description:

Layer 1: The students start all spread out on the baseline, with one wolf on the basketball free throw line, not facing the students. Everyone starts to walk towards the other side, behind the wolf. The students ask: what time is it Mr. Wolf? If the wolf says an hour, it is ok and they continue advancing, but if the wolf says: LUNCH TIME, the students have to run to the base line, because the wolf will be chasing them. If the wolf touches them before they are back, they become a wolf. The last person standing or the remaining people after three minutes of play win.

Layer 2: You can give points to students each time they escape the wolf, and points to wolfs each time they touch a student. This way they won’t purposely get touched to be with their friends.

MODIFICATIONS:

To increase maximum individual participation, separate the class into four groups and have a wolf pack chasing, instead of one wolf.

You can play Mr. Shark in the pool.

SAFETY:

The students need a deceleration zone so they don’t crash into the wall. Leave enough space between the line and the wall.

Remind the students about appropriate tagging.
