QEP: COMPETENCY II, using space available, encircling and catching an opponent,  feinting.

Description:

Layer 1: Separate the class into two teams. The playing space is divided into half, with a “goal” space on each side. Start by making one team cross the space, into their goal. Once they are there, they raise their arms. When the whole team has their arms up, they can cross back. Do the same thing with the other team.

Layer 2: The game begins: The first team to have all their players in their goal wins. When you are in the territory of the opposite team, they can touch you and you are frozen. Once you are frozen, you raise your arms, and someone from your team must rescue you back to your territory. When you are rescuing someone, you are on base. You are also on base in your end zone (or goal zone).

Layer 3: Add tennis balls (or bean bags) in the end zones (can be 10 per side). The team that has the most balls on their side after 3 minutes wins.

MODIFICATIONS:

Modify the boundaries of the playing area if it does not work. You can also add a static base, for one person at a time, in the opposite territory.

SAFETY:

Remind the students to keep their head up scanning, and about appropriate tagging. The students are not allowed to throw the tennis balls.
